Uber Appeal

On Thursday the Chief Magistrate of England and Wales, Emma Arbuthnot, ruled in favour of the Licensed Taxi Drivers’ Association (LTDA) admitting them as an ‘interested party’ in Uber’s Appeal against TFL’s decision to refuse to renew their Operating Licence.

The hearing with start on 6^th July 2020 and we expect will take several days to conclude. 

As an ‘interested party’ the LTDA may now access documents and make submissions in the case.  The LTDA have long voiced concerns about Ubers practices which they feel undermine public safety, a key reason cited in TFL’s decision to refuse Uber’s operating licence on 25^th November 2019.  Uber have strongly contested any such allegations.  

Uber are permitted to continue to trade until such time as the Appeal is determined under existing provisions under the Act.  If they are successful in their Appeal an extension to their licence will be granted.
